How Chronographs Work

Two pushers control start, stop, and reset. Quartz chronographs measure to 1/10th or 1/100th of a second. Automatic chronographs use mechanical movements — more complex and generally more expensive.

Dial Reading

Sub-dials track elapsed seconds, minutes, and sometimes hours. Tachymeter scales allow speed calculation over a fixed distance.

Styles and Uses
